Job Title: Support Worker Location: International Meeting Point, North Belfast Work Base: 31 Carlisle Circus, Belfast Council: Council for Mission in Ireland Salary Scale: AMPP Salary Scale A4-A10 (£23,433 - £26,363 pro rata, per annum) Hours: 37.5 hours (5 days) per week or 30 hours (4 days) per week Term: 3 years, Fixed Term contract Responsible to: The Project Leader, under the daily supervision of the Assistant Project Leader MAIN FUNCTION OF JOB To assist in the smooth running of the International Meeting Point at North Belfast in keeping with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland through involvement in regular programmes, building relationships with the international and local community, and sharing the gospel with IMP users.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1.
To assist in the delivery of IMP programmes such as Bible Studies and English Classes as required.
2.
To engage with clients visiting IMP, seeking to commend the Christian faith in word and deed.
3.
To be involved in practical aspects of the ministry, including the provision of advice, food and clothing to IMP users.
4.
To, on occasion, engage in home visitation where appropriate and be involved in a support role in relation to advocacy.
5.
To engage in deputation work to promote the work of the Project.
6.
To help develop links with local congregations in North Belfast Presbytery, particularly Grace & Hope Community Church, and to foster volunteer involvement and spread the vision more broadly.
7.
To ensure the upkeep of appropriate records and information.
8.
To undertake general cleaning and maintenance duties as required.
9.
To perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Project Leader CRITERIA 1.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE Essential ESOL qualification or proven experience teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs with at least Grade C in English Language or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Desirable A relevant qualification e.g., community work, youth work etc.
An understanding of the needs of foreign nationals living in UK/Ireland Knowledge of the systems of asylum and refugee status in UK/Ireland 2.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE Essential Experience of providing pastoral care and of leading Bible Study Experience of providing effective personal Christian witness Desirable Experience of working in a cross-cultural setting or with people of different cultures Experience of work or service in a church or community-based project Experience of organising social events and activities Experience of providing effective Christian witness to people from different culture or faith backgrounds Experience of communicating effectively in English to people of other languages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Essential Health health such as to allow for attendance reliability and work proficiency, including the ability to participate in social activities (reasonable adjustments will be made for those with a disability).

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES Essential Evidence of a personal Christian faith, normally demonstrated by active membership of a Christian congregation.
(The essential nature of this post requires that the successful candidate be a Christian as provided for under excepted occupations in the Fair Employment Treatment (NI) Order 1998).
Must be willing to behave in a manner which respects the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and the aims of the International Meeting Point.
