Support Medical Secretary

Job summary To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial and Administration Service to the Department in strict accordance with Data Protection Act and Trust Confidentiality Guidelines, ensuring all work is processed in a timely, efficient way.
Provide a full and comprehensive Medical Secretarial Service, including timely audio typing of clinic letters, discharge summaries, and compilation of letters as required by the Consultant(s) and respective Team(s).
This may involve correction of incorrect grammar and interpretation of different pronunciations and handwritten clinical notes of advanced medical terminology Main duties of the job To provide a support Medical Secretarial Service within the Directorate.
To undertake accurate audio/copy typing (including digital) of medical correspondence and general administration for the Consultants and their Teams.
This will include highly sensitive and complex medical terminology with a need for confidentiality.

Person Specification EXPERIENCE Essential Experience of working within the NHS in a similar setting Experience of working within a busy office environment Experience of audio typing Experience of working in an environment dealing with Highly confidential data SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES Essential Willing to travel between the 3 hospital sites within the trust Able to maintain a flexible approach to the role and duties SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE Essential Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products Good written and telephone communication skills, to enable liaison with staff at all levels Ability to organise and prioritise busy workload Happy to work as part of a team Ability to cover the duties of other secretarial staff Desirable Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1998, (ability to maintain patient confidentiality) Knowledge of Trust systems EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING Essential GCSE Grade C or above/ equivalent in English language RSA II typing, or equivalent Medical Secretarial Course/ Medical Terminology Course, Or ability to demonstrate equivalent
