Summary: As Supplier Technologist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our supply base.
You'll be building strong relationships with our suppliers and internal teams to risk assess new and existing suppliers to ensure they meet the company's technical requirements and quality standards.
You'll be monitoring supplier performance through regular supplier review, supplier audit questionnaires (SAQs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Acting as an ambassador for Abel & Cole and in line with our B Corp values, you'll be ensuring that our suppliers deliver product to the best environmental, social, and ethical practises.
You'll have a keen, inquisitive mind and with an eye for detail and a tenacity for maintaining all the paperwork and systems information to robustly support due diligence in supplier approval and monitoring.
What You'll Be Doing: Supplier management Risk-assess new and existing suppliers across all categories (Fresh Produce, Grocery and Packaging).
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, Supplier Scorecard, SAQs and other reporting.
Be the primary user for the 'Authenticate' supplier management platform Manage supplier technical information to ensure it is kept up to date Identify opportunities to improve the supplier approval processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Specification management & NPD Work with the NPD-adjacent teams to deliver timely and successful new product launches from new and existing suppliers.
Maintain customer specification details and systems to ensure information is up to date and accurate I nformation Stay updated on industry trends, regulations and innovations, to guide and support the implementation of best practices to enhance product safety and quality.
Provide updates/summaries to the business on supplier technical scorecard metrics and KPIs Create procedures, documents, and systems to ensure our supplier-related processes are robust to support adequate due diligence.
Other duties Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, particularly fresh produce operations, buying, and the wider technical team.
About You: Ideally have previous experience working in a similar technical role.
Self-starter with great attention to detail and strong commitment to food safety and legality Computer literate, particularly in MS Excel and other MS Office applications.
Flexible approach to working and the adaptability to prioritise and take full ownership of required tasks in a fast-growing company with changing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superb team player, but with the confidence and ability to work independently.
Highly organised, methodical, and tenacious.
Keen to learn new things, develop and grow alongside business needs.
Confidence to deliver training and information to all levels.
