1      Overview Reporting directly to one of the Senior Development Test Engineers, the Student Development Test Engineer will be part of a team of skilled engineers conducting Machine and Component level testing in order to support Engineering Projects at Niftylift.
The Student Development Test Engineer will support with engineering project related testing programs on Niftylift's Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.  2      Relationships Responsible to:         Senior Development Test Engineer Direct reports:            None Liaison with:              Development, Test and Validation Team members, Engineering Team Members       3      Main tasks Conducting machine and component level test programmes to satisfy requests from project related streams of the Engineering Discipline.
Examples: New Product Development, Value Engineering and Product Support departments:         Generate with support detailed test plans in advance of the testing program, including where required EHS Risk assessments;            Where required install and utilise measurement tools and instrumentation to accurately record data during the investigation;         Carrying out machine and component level physical testing, on- and off-site where appropriate.
This may include specific test facilities or real-world applications;         Analyse and clearly present the data collected to form detailed conclusions;         Generate written reports that comprehensively document the testing activity;  Departmental contribution         Assist with the continued maintenance of departmental facilities including tools, equipment and instrumentation;         Assist with the creation and maintenance of existing development test procedures and customer acceptance standards;         Assist with the continued companywide compliance to Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role and the organisation's overall business objectives, this may include the training and mentoring of colleagues.
  4      Qualifications & experience         Studying for a relevant Engineering Degree or HNC/HND/Apprenticeship;         Is familiar with wide range of measurement instrumentation and capable of correctly specifying, setting up and extracting data in a variety of applications;         Familiar with 'Microsoft' packages and be computer literate;         Developing competency within excel specifically data analysis and the creation of graphs;         Basic understanding of Hydraulics/Electronics/Engineering drawings.
  5      Characteristics         Practically minded and comfortable working to solve physical problems in real world applications;         Motivated and Enthusiastic, with the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team;         Able to work to dedicated timescales, plan own time accordingly and course correct when there are delays or problems arise;         Have the ability to analyse data and accurately and clearly report findings;         Flexible approach to working hours;         Open to requirements to travel; 6      Benefits         Annual bonus (for indication only) based on recent average £500 per annum         25 days holiday (increases with service, up to 30 days), plus bank holidays         Staff discounts         Cycle to Work Scheme         Referral Scheme         Discounted gym memberships         Free on-site parking         Subsidised refreshments (lunch and drink options).
