Job summary Wehave an exciting opportunity for an organised and ambitious designatedSafeguarding Lead to join our dedicated and enthusiastic Therapeutic & WellbeingServices team.
Thesuccessful candidate will leadon the development, implementation and evaluation of the Hospices safeguardingstrategy, working with the wider MDT to maintain aneffective safeguarding culture across the Hospice, managing a complex workloadto deliver on key objectives ensuring that key quality standards and compliancetargets are met.You will take the lead responsibility for all safeguardingmatters, providing expert safeguarding knowledge to stakeholders within and beyondthe Hospice, including healthcare professionals, patients and carers and thewidder workforce, including Volunteers.
Main duties of the job Lead the development, implementation and evaluationof the Willen Hospice Safeguarding Strategy.Provideexpert safeguarding knowledge to stakeholders within and beyond Willen Hospice,including healthcare professionals, patients and carers, and the widerworkforce, including volunteers.
Oversightand accountability for safeguarding activity across Willen Hospice services,including identification, alerting, training, reporting, action planning andmonitoring.Sustainrelationships with local, regional and national safeguarding networks.

Our person-centred care is delivered with compassion and respect forpeoples have an expandingTherapeutic & Wellbeing service offering Psychological Wellbeing, SocialCare, Physiotherapy, Occupational and Complementary dedicated Business Development teams and retail portfolio of shopsraise vital funds to deliver this care.Inreturn for your skills and experience, you can expect:-- Tojoin a supportive and caring team- Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 35 dayspro rata (inclusive of statutory and bank holidays)with previous continuous NHS service recognised- Free onsite parking at the Hospice- Employerenhanced auto-enrolment pension scheme or continued membership of the NHS pension scheme- Enhanced maternity,adoption and sick pay provision- Ongoingcommitment to education and professional development- BlueLight Card discounts (with membership)- Excellent on-site subsidised cateringfacilities- Accessto Employee Assistance Programme Job description Job responsibilities 1.Provide expert and evidence-based leadership onall aspects of safeguarding at Willen Hospice.2.Collaborate with stakeholders across theorganisation, including corporate and commercial services, on the strategicdevelopment of safeguarding strategy and process in response to local, regionaland national developments.3.Implement and evaluate the safeguarding strategyacross Willen Hospice services, analysing data to identify trends and respondto alerts, feedback and incidents which indicate specific learning anddevelopment needs in relation to safeguarding.4.
Align safeguarding strategy with considerationof the growing population of Milton Keynes and underserved groups, taking aninclusive and culturally sensitive and informed approach.5.Contribute to and participate in audit andclinical governance activities and attend Clinical Governance meetings toensure continuous service development and care quality improvement.
6.Provide safeguarding activity data as required,contributing to KPIs and statistical information requested by Willens seniormanagement and leadership teams, the Integrated Care Board and governancemechanisms including CQC.7.
Developand present reports relating to safeguarding within and beyond the Hospice, aspart of quality assurance and governance practises.8.Develop and maintain of strong workingrelationships with Willen Hospice Social Care team, Milton Keynes Social Careservices, the Milton Keynes University Hospital-based palliative care andsafeguarding teams, community health and social care providers and systemforums.9.Represent of the Hospice to maximise the profileof Willen Hospice and bring best practice back to the organisation.10.
Maintainprofessional registration requirements, and currency relating to legislationand guidance related to safeguarding, including the Health and Care Act, MentalCapacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty, in order to advise themultidisciplinary team regarding the rights of patients and carers, and toensure effective implementation of the safeguarding strategy across theorganisation.the development and implementation of policies and protocols in relation tosafeguarding matters, such as mental capacity, deprivation of liberty andPREVENT.12.
Coordinate,deliver and evaluate training provision relating to safeguarding, mentalcapacity, deprivation of liberty and PREVENT.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Recognised relevant health and social care degree, Social Work / Nursing / AHP / Therapy.
Experience Essential Safeguarding level 4 training for adults and children.
Thorough understanding of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to Safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty.
Sound knowledge of adult protection and awareness of child protection issues, process and legal framework.
Management and leadership skills.
Continued professional development in the specialism of safeguarding.
Desirable Experience of leading / implementing strategic developments.
Experience of working with older people and people experiencing palliative care and at the end of life.
Deprivation of Liberty Best Interest Assessor.
Qualified Approved Mental Health Professional.
Experience as a champion for dementia / domestic violence.
Masters-level learning.
Supervision qualification.
Experience facilitating reflective supervision.
