About the team Working as part of a small team and on your own you will supported by the wider Stations team within GWR.
About the Job: As part of the stations team, you will be looking after a number of staffed and unstaffed stations across the West region.
Ensuring they are presentable for our customers, getting involved with the community and stakeholders.
The role will involve the use of hand tools, small painting jobs, general maintenance, poster changes and preparing for events, you will also be able to modify/repair and manage a number of small projects (DIY).
Your main responsibilities will be: Providing excellent customer service to our customers using our stations Undertake litter collection at unstaffed stations Bin management/poster updating Vegetation clearance Graffiti removal Repairs and general maintenance tasks Ensuring station presentation is maintained to a high standard The role will involve the use of power tools, including hedge cutters and strimmer's and application of chemicals, such as weed sprays etc.
Full training will be provided.
You'll need to be: The ideal candidate will need to be flexible with working hours, to suit the varying tasks that need to be completed.
The hours of duty are likely to vary at different times of year Someone with a strong passion for working with and alongside the community rail groups/station Throughout the winter, the de-icing and salting of platforms and station property is a key role and this can involve shift starts in the very early hours to enable all the stations to be safe for the first trains.
Respond, record and react to safety issues that may compromise customer safety As a minimum you will need to have: Be a team player who can work both under instruction and use initiative to resolve issues as they arise.
Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage own workload during periods of lone working About the location This role requires you to work outside at staffed and unstaffed stations across the patch.
Working pattern The hours for this role are typically a 35 hour week between 07:00 - 19:00 (five days a week, Monday to Saturday including a rest day,) and involves working a rotating flexible roster.
Additional information A full and clean driving licence is vital for this role as you will be provided use of a company vehicle to travel between stations.
During November to March there is call out arrangement for winterisation operations Applicants successfully short listed will be invited to a competency based interview.
Interviews will take place on 2nd and 3rd January 2025.
The successful candidate will be required to meet the medical standards for the role including a drugs and alcohol screen.
A Basic DBS is also required.
Full training will be provided, the majority of which will take place at our Training Centre in Swindon.
Training will be Monday to Friday and will last for approximately 2-3 weeks.
You will be provided with a travel pass for GWR Services to enable you to travel to/from the training venue.
