Job Advertisement: Maintenance Technician Location: Newport, Shropshire Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (dependent on skills and experience) Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (2 days / 2 nights) 12-hour shifts, 7 am - 7 pm / 7 pm - 7 am Holiday: 23 days Benefits: Overtime paid at 1.25x rate after 48 hours 3% Company Pension Life Assurance (3x salary) 6-month probation period We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician on behalf of our client to play a key role in their Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) team.
This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer to contribute to a forward-thinking maintenance strategy, using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to keep equipment in top working order and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities: Preventative Maintenance : Develop and implement PPM tasks, from critical asset studies to FMECA, and carry out scheduled maintenance with precision.
Problem Diagnosis and Repair : Identify faults, test, and maintain mechanical/electrical systems, and provide data and insights via the CMMS system.
Continuous Improvement : Actively seek and apply new methods to increase equipment reliability and efficiency, implementing improvements and participating in 5S and RCA activities.
Communication : Ensure smooth handovers across shifts and communicate with OEMs for technical support as needed.
Documentation : Maintain accurate records in CMMS, report on lifecycle issues, and record all tasks completed in line with regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience: Proficiency with CMMS systems and preventative maintenance processes Strong mechanical/electrical diagnostic skills Ability to lead shift-based problem-solving and implement continuous improvements Experience with 5S programs and root cause analysis techniques, such as 5WHY or 100-Year Fix Team-oriented and committed to maintaining high standards in equipment management and reliability This role is ideal for a Maintenance Technician passionate about TPM principles and proactive maintenance approaches.
