We have exciting opportunities for a Band 5 nurse to join our friendly and supportive acute medical and nursing team who are committed to providing and maintaining high standards of patient care, specialising in Gastroenterology nursing. Ward L2 specialises in acute medical nursing. The Unit has 24 beds. You will be looking after patients with hepato-biliary issues, IBS and substance abuse problems.

Posts are offered on a full-time and part-time basis. This post requires flexible working patterns to meet the needs of the service to include bank holidays and weekends as required.

Main duties of the job We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic nurse who is willing to get stuck in and hit the ground running. You'll be someone who works well under pressure, is a great team player as well as being self-motivated and able to work independently when needed. A nursing professional you'll be someone who truly understands the need for care, consideration and respect for our patients but also applies these qualities to your team members.

You will also be committed to delivering a high standard of patient care and have an interest in the acute nursing care within the gastroenterology field. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential. A flexible approach and the ability to respond appropriately to the demands of a rapidly changing acute clinical environment are also essential.

In return we can offer you a structured orientation programme through endoscopy where a high percentage of our patients go for procedures and the support of our dedicated Practice development team, Supervisory Ward Sisters, specialist advanced practitioners, hepato-biliary specialist nurses, a dedicated Discharge co-ordinator and 12 dedicated specialist Consultants. You will receive a supernumerary period to enable you to gain the skills and competency required to care for acutely ill patients.

Job description Job responsibilities This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC Pin within the next 2-3 months.

Please note an NMC PRN Pin is not a full NMC Pin and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.

Person Specification Professional Registration Essential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Part 1 Adult/ General Level 1 or 2). Qualifications Essential Degree/ diploma in nursing studies (or equivalent nursing qualification and experience). Knowledge, Training & Experience Essential Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD). Display good clinical knowledge which is based on research evidence. Desirable Evidence of supervisor compliance. Experience working as a qualified nurse under NMC guidance. Evidence of involvement in teaching. Skills & Abilities Essential Ability to work flexibly. Ability to work as part of a team. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers & MDT. Ability to organise own time and that of junior staff and learners. Positive customer care approach. Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within the role. Desirable Ability to take charge in absence of Team Leader. Evidence of professional/ clinical knowledge acquired through CPD.
