Job summary Thisrole provides a high standard of administrative support to the Spinal SurgeryDepartment.
Toundertake a range of clerical and administrative duties which will includereceiving and checking documentation, reports and patient information,processing appropriately within departmental guidelines, entering informationonto the appropriate IT system and retrieving information as and when requiredand arranging clinical appointments for patients among other duties.
Toprovide the Patient Services Co-ordinators, consultants, and clinical teamswith administrative support.
To demonstrate excellent customer service topatients, relatives, carers, colleagues, and external organisations.
To haveinitiative compatible to the role and always maintain confidentiality Main duties of the job Usethe Patient Administration System as required.
Use Patient Pathway Manager + asrequired.
Politely and efficiently receivetelephone enquiries from patients, carers, and external agencies in relation tohospital appointments, admissions and general enquires.
Support patient service coordinators,clinicians, and management in service delivery.

Use a range of IT skills to supportthe clinical work of the consultant use of databases and spread sheets tomonitor waiting lists.
Support administrative process asdeemed appropriate by the PSC.
To provide a full clerical supportservice to the Department including organising, sorting, and filing documentsand papers; dealing with incoming and outgoing paper and electronic post asrequired.
Answer phone calls and deal withenquiries relating to patients and clinical work from a variety of sources,directly resolving where possible or transferring to appropriate personnel.
Liaise with GPs and other hospitalstaff to provide the best patient care.

Qualifications Essential Literate / Numerate GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths Desirable Word Processing Skills RSA II or equivalent experience Experience Essential Computer knowledge Experience of dealing with the public Competent keyboard skills to maintain a high quality, accurate and efficient service (keyboard/data entry) Experience of working in a team Desirable Appropriate NHS experience PAS/EPRO/PPM+ knowledge / experience Other Criteria Essential Able to use departmental equipment to file and retrieve documentation
