Job summary Band 5 Speech & Language Therapist (ALD Team)Chippenham Community Hospital per week - PermanentAn exciting opportunity hasarisen for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to become part of ourcommunity team working with adults with a learning disability (ALD).
We are looking for an enthusiastic SLT whowould like to gain experience in supporting patients with a range of communicationand/or swallowing difficulties.
This part time ( hours per week) postoffers the opportunity to work with an ALD caseload.
Main duties of the job The role will focus initially on working with a wide rangeof communication difficulties.
Development of dysphagia skills will also be anessential part of the role over time, with appropriate clinical supervisionfrom specialist colleagues.
Candidates with post-graduate dysphagia trainingwould be supported with these skills.The post holder should be keento working collaboratively within a team, possess excellent communicationskills and a desire to learn and develop.We have a robust system of supervision and provide CPDopportunities throughout the year.

Person Specification Experience Essential To be able to demonstrate empathy, support and reassurance to individuals who have a communication and/or swallowing impairment and with their carers and families.
Able to communicate clearly, directly and honestly, in an open manner.
Have a good awareness of self and of others.
Additional Criteria Essential Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence.
Qualifications Essential Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).
Licence to practice from Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists, which is issued following attainment of degree as well as the successful completion of clinical placements Registration with Health and Care Professions Council Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, and evidence of own professional development Have some knowledge of national and local clinical guidelines Desirable Have post graduate dysphagia training
