Job summary The Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Speech and Language Therapy, OccupationalTherapy, Physiotherapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children 0-19 years within KCHFT.
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 6 post on a permanent basis primarily within our School Years teams.
We will consider both full-time and part time options and flexible working would be considered depending on servicerequirements.
We provide support to primary, secondary and special schools across the East locality.
KCHFT works within a Balanced System framework including the link therapist model.
You will provide advice, coaching, assessment and intervention tochildren and young people with a range of language and communication needs including AAC, social communication,language, speech, fluency and selective mutism.
There will be opportunities to work in venues and schools alongside other staff in the team.
We are looking for a therapist /therapists who have experience of supporting AAC in both mainstreamand specialist environments and who may have experience of/interest in dysphagia.
The successful applicant(s) will join our Children's Therapies East Kent Team and will be supported by Band 7 Clinical and Team Leads within the team.
We currently offer a hybrid work pattern for staff with face to face sessions offered from schools and bases within the community and options to work some sessions remotely from home, where appropriate.
Main duties of the job Work to support local schools to meet the needs of children and young people with speech, language and communicationneeds (SLCN) using the Balanced System model.
To assess, plan and implement SLT interventions that support children with a range of speech language and complex communication needs.
To deliver evidence-based SLT interventions for children that support them achieving their identified health outcomes.
To develop integrated care plans in partnership with the child, young person and / or family recommending and supporting interventions that are appropriate at a universal, targeted and specialist level.
To participate in clinical supervision and to work as part of an integrated team with Therapy Assistants, OTs, PTs, SLTs, Care Co-ordinators and Specialist Nurse Advisors offering support to colleagues as appropriate to knowledge and skills.
To actively work as a member of a multi disciplinary and multi-agency teams to provide high quality care to children and young people in line with our care pathways.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered health care professional HCPC registration.
Health related degree Experience Essential Minimum of 2 years' experience in area of practice Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience Special Knowledge & Expertise Essential Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months Skills & Abilities Essential Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including areas of social deprivation Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups Strong influencing and negotiating skills Personal Attributes Essential Ability to work under pressure.
