Job summary This 3 day a week post will suit an HCPC-registered, qualified Speech and Language Therapist who has theoretical knowledge of cleft lip and palate and related disorders at a post-graduate level or equivalent, as well as advanced level clinical experience of (Great Ormond Street Assessment), videofluoroscopy and nasendoscopy investigations.
You will be highly motivated about your work and keen to make a difference to the lives of the patients in your care.
Naturally you will have excellent clinical, communication and interpersonal skills.
We will expect good time management capabilities to ensure you can manage your own caseload efficiently.
Analytical and reflection skills are essential as is knowledge and experience of delivering different evidence- based therapy approaches and you will have experience of working with a multidisciplinary team.
You will enjoy the challenge of participating in audit and research projects and you will relish this opportunity to use clinical skills at a senior specialist level.
Main duties of the job This role requires an expert level of diagnostic skill and the ability to carry out detailed assessments of complex speech problems as well as being able to plan and deliver appropriate intervention.
You will also lead specialist speech investigation clinics (involving videofluoroscopy and nasendoscopy), provide second opinions on the speech of patients referred with suspected velopharyngeal incompetence and frequently travel out across the Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire areas to support, advise and train speech and language therapists working in community or school settings.

Job description Job responsibilities This is an excellent chance for an experienced clinician to join a well-established specialist service, that forms part of a wider specialist regional cleft network.
Working as an independent practitioner alongside colleagues from a range of disciplines, you will assess, diagnose and manage patients (children and adults) who have complex speech problems related to cleft lip and palate and non-cleft velopharyngeal incompetence, both in individual one to one sessions and as part of busy clinics.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential oAccredited degree or equivalent Certificate to Practice (SLT) oRegistered with HCPC oRelevant Master's degree or equivalent experience evidenced by completion of highly specialist/advanced short courses, post-graduate training etc.
Desirable oMember of RCSLT oCompletion of basic clinical management course oMember of relevant specialist Clinical Excellence network (CEN) Skills, Knowledge and understanding Essential oAdvanced theoretical knowledge of paediatric communication impairments oAdvanced knowledge and use of up-to-date assessment procedures and therapy techniques in relevant clinical specialist area.
