Job summary The Anaesthetics department at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust provides a variety of services across the Trust sites including General Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, ENT, Urology and Breast Surgery.Emergency, elective, intensive therapy and maternity services are provided at both the Grimsby and Scunthorpe sites, and Goole Hospital provides elective services only.There are 2 permanent posts and 1 fixed term posts available.
These posts would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care.
The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of services in a busy hospital.
Main duties of the job We are seeking to appoint a fixed term Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics to join our forward thinking department.
The successful appointees will join a proactive group of colleagues providing services at Scunthorpe General Hospital.Specific responsibilities will be essentially those of a post-fellowship Registrar reporting directly to his/her Consultant and would include: The day-to-day care and management of patients.Anaesthetising patients in theatre with direct and indirect Consultant supervision for both elective and emergency cases which includes a commitment to the on call rotaWork in Intensive Care Unit including on call commitment under Consultant supervision.Work in obstetric unit including an on call commitment under Consultant supervision.Advice to other staff.Flexible use of time depending on the needs of the department.
This may include undertaking fixed commitments out of normal working hours.

Job description Job responsibilities The appointee will be expected deliver high quality care to the patients presenting to the Department.
On call work is divided into 3 tiers, with Trust Grades and CT (or equivalent) as first on call, ST (or equivalent) and Speciality Doctors as second on call and Consultants as non-resident third on call.
The postholder will be expected to work at both Scunthorpe and Goole Hospital.
On call commitment is 1:8 with prospective cover.

Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English and have the following scores in the academic lnternational English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall , Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7 Evidence of 4 years (FTE) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent training) of which at least 2 year's training must be in relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training.
Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in a relevant specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in a relevant specialty by the start date of the post.
Experience Essential Must demonstrate proven ability to anaesthetise most ASA I to III patients for a wide range of non-complex surgical procedures in both elective and emergency settings with at times distant consultant supervision.
Audit: evidence of active participation in audit.
Desirable Teaching: evidence of interest and experience in teaching where required in the job.
