This position will be located at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.
As a senior member of staff, you will be able to function with greater independence and autonomy.
A mentor will be assigned to assist you in navigating the role and exploring potential future opportunities.

Therefore, we offer a 30-day study leave per three-year cycle, which will help you develop specialised interests and pursue research opportunities.

If you would like to perform exclusively critical care duties, we will offer you the opportunity to spend entire clinical time at the Critical Care Unit.
Main duties of the job The main duties of the post are focused on the management of patients in the critical care units and associated areas at the level of Junior registrar/ ST3 equivalent or above.
As a Specialty Doctor, you will provide independent immediate care to critically ill patients including managing airways emergencies with support from on call team.
Critical care duties are organised on a rolling 1:8 rota.
Elective lists are programmed into the 8-week cycle.
You will ensure that arrangements are in place for staff to contact you in emergency situations.
You will be expected to contribute fully to the teaching, training and other educational activities within the Critical Care Unit, as well as attending and contributing to clinical governance and audit activities.

The remainder of the contracted hours will be spent in elective theatre lists and undertaking supporting professional activities.
Further development of specialist interests will be supported through study leave (30 days per 3-year cycle).The post holder is managerially accountable to the Divisional Operational Manager, Division of Surgery and clinically accountable to the Divisional Director, Division of Surgery.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential MB ChB or equivalent basic medical qualification Experience Essential 3 years experience in anaesthesia and critical care Desirable 12 months experience in critical care Audit projects with outcomes.
Key Skills Essential Understanding of audit process Understand the research process Understanding of evidence-based medicine.
