We are seeking an organised and creative individual to join our team at Southbrook School to help support the pupils in developing and strengthening their phonic skills, thus enabling them to reach their full learning potential across the curriculum.
Southbrook School is located in Exeter and provides support to pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4 with learning needs and communication and interaction difficulties.The main purpose of the role is to work closely with our specialist Dyslexia teacher to plan, resource and implement the phonic learning programmes for pupils across the school, alongside the wider teaching team.
Whilst training in our programme will be given, a secure base knowledge and understanding of the phonic code would be beneficial, alongside an awareness of what it may mean to struggle with acquiring literacy skills and some strategies to support this with young people.
You will support the teacher in creating personalised resources for the children to learn in their own individual ways.
You will need to be creative, flexible, patient, and perceptive, as you will need to write down observations and identify ways to overcome barriers to pupil learning and engagement.
