Job description Job responsibilities Located just two miles from the historic city of Lincoln, The Laurels provides specialist neurological rehabilitation and support to patients with acquired and traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.
Therefore, this role is ideal for candidates with Band 7 equivalent experience, who can confidently work independently and autonomously.
With the position being one day per week, it is well-suited to individuals with other commitments, such as additional employment, training, and/or personal obligations, offering a flexible work arrangement.
This role provides a unique opportunity to showcase and further develop neurorehabilitation skills and knowledge, while also allowing the freedom to explore other specialties and client groups.
Here at The Laurels, our interdisciplinary team is composed of skilled professionals, including a Rehabilitation Consultant, Neuropsychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, work together to develop person-centred, evidence-based rehabilitation care plans that aim to maximise independence and recovery.
We deliver high-quality and intensive neurological rehabilitation.
Our comprehensive approach includes physical, cognitive, functional, and vocational assessments, along with behavioural management and complex disability assessments for adults.

What you'll be working: This role is hours per week, and we are happy to discuss a flexible working pattern.
What you'll be doing: In this role you will deliver a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service, managing and prioritising a caseload of patients with highly complex speech, language and communication impairments and swallowing difficulties.
Using evidence-based patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, that complement working in a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit.
The post-holder will: Assess, diagnose, and develop individualised treatment plans for service users with complex communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide specialist advice and training to families, carers, and other professionals.
Supervise and mentor junior staff and students.
Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to service development and innovation to enhance patient outcomes.

Experience Essential Experience working within a fast-paced neurorehabilitation setting.
Knowledge of evidence-based approaches in the treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Previous experience in a Band 6 or Band 7 SLT role
