The positions offer the opportunity to work in specialist clinics: Nail surgery,Musculoskeletal and Wound care, whilst delivering care to existing patients andassessing new referrals.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop into a specialism; for new graduates to progress fromBand 5 to Band 6 over12 months, conditional on successfully completing thedevelopmental program.Our service caseload comprises of high and medium risk patients withcomplex medical conditions and high podiatric needs.
There is also adomiciliary service for those who are not mobile and unable to travel toclinic.
The successful candidate will rotate through the specialist clinicsgaining experience and knowledge across the specialisms.Located in NW Surrey, this is a lively area offering great transportlinks into London, whilst having the advantage of wonderful outdoor spaces.

Main duties of the job Your role as a Band 6 Podiatrist will be to provide a highlyeffective, comprehensive foot health and protection service for the populationof CSH Surrey at a variety of clinical sites including in the patient's ownhome, working towards achieving the objectives and values of CSH Surrey.Including:Assessing, diagnosis, develop treatment plans and providing effectivepodiatric treatments, using a problem solving approach based on clinical needand evidence based practice.
Care should have an emphasis on patientempowerment and independence by providing education and information to helppatients manage their own foot needs.Working as an autonomous clinician within Professional, Departmental andCSH guidelines, part of a multidisciplinary team when required and act as asource of advice to patients, carers, GPs and other Health Care Professionals.Will maintain clear, comprehensive and accurate records, participate inspecialist clinical rotations and actively participate in clinical support(clinical supervision) utilising reflective practice.Keep up to date with clinical and professional developments, maintainCPD and mandatory training and actively participate in Professional developmentreviews.To communicate effectively with all patients, carers, relatives, GP's,other Health professionals, colleagues and administrative support.

Job description Job responsibilities Role SummaryTo provide a highly effective,comprehensive foot health service for the population of CSH Surrey.PrincipalDutiesTo work as an integral member of thepodiatry team to assess need and deliver quality programmes of Podiatric careto patients in a variety of settings across the CSH Surrey sites.
This requiresa general knowledge of all aspects of podiatric practice to providespecialised, high quality responsive podiatric treatment to maintain patientsmobility, independence and prevention of disability.Principle ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesTo assess, diagnose, develop specialisedtreatment plans and provide effective podiatric treatments, using a problemsolving approach based on clinical need and evidence based practice.
This isfrequently with patients with complex medical conditions such as diabetes,rheumatoid arthritis, vascular insufficiencies, physical or other disabilitiesand other vulnerable groups.To provide early intervention wheneverpossible to enable long term gain.To commit to the philosophy of care withan emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education andinformation to help patients manage their own foot needs.
This will includeproviding education sessions for new and current patients.To provide services at a wide variety ofsites including a patients home, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals andin challenging conditions, often working in isolation.
The post holder will beexpected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team when required and act as asource of advice to patients, carers, GPs and other Health Care Professionals.To manage clinical risk within ownpatient caseload seeking guidance as appropriate.To obtain informed consent prior totreatment plans commencing.To ensure all patients are appropriatelyassessed prior to referring to the assistant grade.To undertake diagnostic procedureseffectively using appropriate equipment wound swabs, Doppler ultrasound.Competently interpret, record, report and act on the results.To be proficient in comprehensiveneurological and vascular assessments, wound debridement, advanced pathologyand wound management dressing selection.The post holder will be responsible forcarrying out a thorough medical assessment to ensure suitability of local anaesthesiaand minor surgery.To undertake specialist surgicalintervention for complex nail pathologies, for example nail avulsions andchemical destruction of the nail matrix with local anaesthesia.To undertake basic biomechanicalassessments in order to prescribe, manufacture and dispense orthotics or simpleinsoles referring to specialist service as required.To maintain a domiciliary caseload.
Thisincludes working with admin teams to book appointments and using clinical timeeffectively.To maintain clear, comprehensive andaccurate records.
To update patients medical history, evaluate progression andwork with the client to develop their treatment plan as required.To actively participate in clinicalsupport (clinical supervision) and utilise reflective practice as a method toensure quality of care for all service users.To teach and assess students, newlyqualified podiatrists and podiatry assistants.ProfessionalTo work as an autonomous clinicianwithin Professional, Departmental and CSH guidelines.

Provide empathy and supportto patients as required.Regular effective communication with GPs,Allied Health Professionals, Tissue Viability Nurses, District Nurses,Practice Nurses, Multi Disciplinary Teams, Health Visitors, Carers, SocialServices and peers to ensure co-ordinated delivery of care.To provide health promotional activitieswith individuals and groups (patients and healthcare professionals) forexample, foot health education sessions as well as individually tailorededucation during treatments.To liaise with administrative andclerical staff as the post requires.To contribute to the development ofpatient care by actively participating in team and department meetings andsupporting colleagues and peers.
This includes reviewing case studies andsharing best practice.
