Job summary If you are passionate about podiatry and want to provide a quality service for the high risk patients of Bolton, we are looking to welcome you into our integrated specialist podiatry team.The successful candidate will be responsible for treatment planning and management of foot complications associated with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and vascular / ischaemic long-term conditions.
You will be part of the foot protection team and have the opportunity to work across all areas of podiatry including: biomechanics/ MSK assessment clinics, orthoses manufacturing, ulcer/ wound-care clinics, nail surgery and PAD clinics.
The post holder will also have the opportunity to work in the diabetes centre, the hospital and community.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team offering specialist podiatric assessment and treatment via a holistic approach, to a varied and complex caseload.The post holder will work across both community settings and within a hospital-based environment, and clinical work will be from a variety of community clinic locations and domiciliary settings; a car is therefore essential for this role.You will actively participate in regular CPD sessions and complex case discussions; and staff support is provided via one-to-one meetings and group supervision sessions.You will be directly managed by, and report to, the Podiatry Team Lead.Band 5/ 6 progression posts and part-time hours may be considered.
Main duties of the job The post holder will provide an efficient and high quality specialised podiatry service for high risk patients throughout all specialist areas as per service need.
As an experienced autonomous practitioner they will assess, diagnose and treat patients on their case lists in all clinical settings.
Post holder will supervise recently qualified podiatrists, assistants and students.
Participate in Continuing Professional Development, clinical audit and in-service training.
Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standards.

Evidence of post graduate training in speciality area - including Wound Management; Vascular; Diabetes; MSK Therapy and Rheumatology Clinical Educators/Field worker course or equivalent Desirable Membership of professional special interest group skills Essential Ability to expertly use and apply a range of assessment and treatment techniques and approaches to the management of conditions relevant to the speciality Ability to communicate effectively and flexibly and to adapt communication style to the needs of patients, carers and staff.
Experience Essential Broad range of clinical podiatric experience prior to specialising Extensive experience working within speciality area with practitioners from own or other professions who are experienced in this area.
Experience of participating in service development Experience of student education within the workplace up to graduate level Desirable Participation in clinical audit knowledge Essential Development of additional knowledge through specialist training and experience in order to be able to manage a caseload of complex needs Knowledge of recent NHS & Trust developments and their impact on the service Desirable Knowledge of wound care and dressings.
other Essential Driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes, the ability to travel throughout Bolton locality, subject to the conditions of the DDA Ability to work flexible hours and out of hours including weekends based on the needs of the service
