Main duties of the job Weare looking for an imaginative, creative and enthusiastic OccupationalTherapist to work with people with learning disabilities who are experiencingadditional distress and have complex needs.
The post holder will focus onassessing and providing specialist Occupational Therapy interventions and/orconsultation to support people to be an active member of their homeand local community, promoting engagement in meaningful occupations and development of capable environments to maximise health and well-being.Thepost holder will have experience of managing a specialist caseload of adultswith severe and complex learning disabilities who have additional health needsin a variety of community settings, utilising evidence based care pathways and risk assessment as part of the MDT care plan.Thepost holder will have an interest in sensory processing assessment andtreatment and experience in utilising specialist evidence based assessment andoutcome measurement.
Where required we will support clinicians to undertakenecessary training to develop these skills.The post holder will provide management and clinical supervision to junior Occupational Therapy staff based within the team including students and apprentices.
Therapists are encouraged to be innovative and motivated in contributing to the leadership and development of the Learning Disability Occupational Therapy service.Due to the large geographical area of work suitable access to transport will be required.

Person Specification Knowledge & Skills Essential Demonstrate understanding of occupational performance and the role of the OT within a multidisciplinary team Understanding of government law and policy with regard to services for people with learning disabilities including guidance regarding people with complex distressed behaviour (Mental Health Act; DOLS; Safeguarding etc.)
