Job overview The Children's Diabetes Service looks after all children and young people with diabetes in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, currently around up to the age of years.
The team is based at the Oxford Children's Hospital, John Radcliffe site, with clinics both in Oxford and at the Horton Hospital, Banbury.
Approximately % of the children/young people use insulin pumps and % of families using continuous glucose monitoring.
The multi-disciplinary team works tirelessly to improve the quality of life of children and young people with diabetes, while optimising the best possible individual management of the condition.
Main duties of the job The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and education to a caseload of children and young people of all ages as named nurse.
The geographical area of the caseload is in and around Banbury, attending clinic at the Horton Hospital.
The post holder will be expected to take part in all education activities for children, young people and their families from diagnosis onwards.
This will include ward management, clinics, home visits, school visits, group and one-to-one education.
