It also includes personnel and financial management and clinical responsibilities in the diagnosis, management and on-going review of hearing loss in babies and children of all ages.The post carries a high level of personal autonomy and managerial and clinical responsibility.
The post requires an extremely high level of scientific knowledge, very high skill levels in performing the diagnostic tests and the ability to communicate well with children, parents and other professionals.
This is particularly the case when imparting the diagnosis of permanent deafness to the parents Establishment of comprehensive working policies that ensure an efficient and quality service is delivered.
Ensuring the effects of increases/changes in activity on the service are identified and appropriate action taken within the Paediatric Audiology department.Ensuring that the clinical and scientific standards of the Paediatric Audiology Service are maintained to nationally recognised standards.Line management responsibilities for the scientific and technical staff within the paediatric audiology service.
This will include assessment of performance, management of annual leave and sickness and any disciplinary and grievance issues.

Qualifications Essential criteria •MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification to MSc level•Registered with the HCPC or AHCS Desirable criteria •Leadership/Management Qualification Knowledge and Experience Essential criteria •Highly specialised knowledge of paediatric audiology acquired through a combination of experience and post-graduate/post-registration training such as that obtained through a master's degree/doctorate, equivalent experience/qualification, significant formal training, or research in a paediatric audiology•Experience of developing policies and guidelines•Experience of audit and non-conformity management Desirable criteria •Experience of gaining and/or maintaining IQIPs accreditation•Successful project management experience•Experience of staff line management including appraisal, objective setting and performance management•Experience of budget management, finance and procurement Skills and Abilities Essential criteria •Excellent written, oral and interpersonal and communication skills•Excellent organisational skills•Able to work on/under own initiative•Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, manage, motivate and develop Aptitudes Essential criteria •The post holder should be an autonomous, self-directed practitioner who is able to complete the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description without direct supervision.•Able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload.
