It is an exciting time to join the neuro in-patient rehabilitation team at Holywell Neurological Inpatient Unit as we are developing our services and are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join us.
We are an enthusiastic team who will support and help you develop your clinical, managerial, personal and professional skills.
Our rehabilitation services are fully integrated between the community and acute.
We specialise in the rehabilitation of people with stroke and other neurological conditions.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is passionate about helping patients to improve their quality of life and helping staff to develop in their roles and are keen to learn.
Main duties of the job To perform physiotherapy assessment of patients with neurological presentations on the Stroke and neuro rehabilitation pathways in order to develop and deliver an individualised treatment program.To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate positive rehab outcomes and timely, co-ordinated discharge planning.To fully support initiatives to reduce length of stay, including key working.To work flexibly, being willing to provide support on other intermediate care wards when necessary.To entertain the possibility of rotation into community based Early Stroke Discharge Team, neuro community team and Watford General Acute and hyper acute Stroke Unit.To hold responsibility for own caseload, working with and without direct supervision.Provide support for the clinical supervision for a Band 5 physiotherapist, student physiotherapists and give direction to members of support staff.To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to inform own and general Physiotherapy practice within the unit.

Person Specification Education/Qualification Essential Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy Current HCPC registration Attendance at specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Neuro Rehabilitation Desirable Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to this post such as ACPIN Experience Essential Experience post registration as a Band 5 physiotherapist Experience working at a Junior level in a wide range of specialised clinical areas including outpatients, neurology, rehabilitation, orthopedics and respiratory Desirable Experience in service development projects.
Skills and knowledge Essential Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults with complex Neurological condition ands multi-pathologies Knowledge and understanding of complex neurological, medical conditions including multipathologies and falls Ability to apply core Physiotherapy skills across a range of clinical conditions within a client centered, goal setting Knowledge of outcome measures and evidence-based practice Ability to problem solve, prioritise and demonstrate clinical reasoning Teaching of junior staff / students, peers in Inservice training setting Desirable Supervision of assistant / junior staff Supervision of Students Knowledge and understanding of relevant, RCP, NICE and CSP guidelines Key Attributes Essential Able to work as a team member Flexible, adaptable and reliable Able to work under pressure
