We are looking for a midwife who is forward thinking, dynamic and interested in Perinatal Mental Health.
This role involves co-ordinating care and support for women not only experiencing mental health issues, but those who have other complex care needs including substance misuse and learning difficulties.
Perinatal Mental Illness affects up to 27% of women during pregnancy and the first year following the birth of a child.
If left untreated it can have significant and long lasting effects on women and families.

Person Specification Experience Essential Significant experience of working as a Registered Midwife in a wide range of settings Recent experience of working with women with perinatal mental health issues Experience of working with women who require complex care planning Experience of facilitating teaching and training Desirable Good understanding and experience of assurance processes/audit/change management Skills Essential Well-developed skills in communication to effectively deliver sensitive information to women, families in consultation with professional colleagues, verbally, in writing and using digital /technical methods Desirable High level of organisational skills, self-motivation, drive for performance and quality improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude Knowledge Essential Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
Awareness of key issues and drivers within the National Maternity Agenda Qualifications Essential First level Registered Midwife with current NMC registration First Degree or equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained in a relevant environment Teaching Qualification as defined by the NMC SLIP/FLIP Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice,in particular relating to perinatal mental health Desirable Recognised Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience A Masters level qualification in relevant subject or evidence of equivalent knowledge or working towards qualification Other Requirements Essential Flexibility to work across sites within the organisation
