Job summary Closing Date: (this may change dependent on response) Shortlisting to take place in the week following closing date: commencing Interview expected to take place in the week following shortlisting: commencing An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motived and dynamic leader to apply for the post of Matron within the Specialist Medicine CSU.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct leadership and support to their relevant clinical areas and specialist nursing teams.
Specialist Medicine is a large business unitmade up of several different specialities including Respiratory medicine, Cardiology, Haematology, Oncology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, the Transfusion Service and the Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.
You should be a registered nurse with senior leadership experience who is passionate about high quality patient care.
You should have experience of clinical governance frameworks and service improvement projects.
You will be expected to be based at Bradford Royal Infirmary but may be asked to work from other clinical sites.
You will be expected to work autonomously as a senior nurse as part of the Specialist Medicine Clinical Services Unit alongside fellow Matrons and reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Nursing.
Main duties of the job Strong clinical leadership and effective management Operational nursing lead for the development, implementation and evaluation of care Ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence.
Ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on diversity of the local community and beyond.
To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the clinical teams to do the right thing for people we care for.
Effectively managing risk.
A key member of a multi professional team Pathway management and development for cardiology patients.
Play a crucial role in the clinical governance systems Lead specific programmes as agreed with the Speciality Lead and the Deputy Director of Nursing for the Clinical Service Unit (CSU), in order to achieve a high level of compliance with National Strategies and targets relevant to your clinical specialities.
Represent the service nationally, regionally and locally working collaboratively with all stakeholders including the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Clinical Networks and Senate, NHS England.
Development and monitoring of training and education to develop senior nursing and multi-professional staff knowledge and skills to enhance the quality of the service user experience.

Person Specification Experience Essential Significant post registration in a range of settings with significant experience at a senior level.
Able to demonstrate having worked in an autonomous role utilising skills in complex situations Experience in leading and managing staff Budgetary financial management experience Experience of clinical audit/R&D processes and practice Experience in policy development Experience of being accountable for patient care as well as decision making skills Proven experience in managing and implementing change Desirable Experience of working across organisational boundaries Designed and delivered teaching or education packages to patients, carers and health care staff Skills Essential Proven ability to lead, influence and provide consultations within a mutli-disciplinary environment Report writing/Presentation skills Change management, decision and problem solving skills Excellent time management and organisation skills Ability to manage, motivate and empower others Ability to work as part of a team, networking skills Teaching and mentoring skills Able to effectively and appropriately deal with criticism and challenging people and situations Ability to positively and creatively challenge current thinking in order to develop new and improved policy and working practices Able to influence others from partner agencies, to achieve national targets without any direct authority Desirable In depth knowledge and understanding of the needs of the specific patient group Curriculum planning and facilitation skills Mentoring and counselling skills Project Management Knowledge Essential Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of application of relevant National Guidance , NICE etc.
Comprehensive knowledge of the NHS national targets and priorities Understanding of the Trust's objectives and priorities and the ability to work across operational boundaries An understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, Adult Safe Guarding and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards.
Desirable Knowledge of relevant national polices pertaining to Cardiology Political awareness Qualifications Essential Registered General Nurse Have undertaken post qualification leadership training ENB 659 or equivalent - SLIP, 998 Evidence of current CPD Evidence of further study/knowledge at Masters level or equivalent experince Degree
