Our small team is dedicated to providing expert dietetic support & advice to adults with enteral tubes in situ across the beautiful county of Cornwall.
Within the role there is the opportunity to obtain competencies for care of feeding tubes and stoma sites, enabling a practical level of dietetic input.
Main duties of the job The adult HEF dietetic caseload comprises of around 135 patients, with a wide range of clinical conditions.
You will be responsible for providing a responsive & competent dietetic service, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams as and where possible, to ensure a holistic, collaborative, and all-encompassing approach.
You will be expected to complete face to face, telephone or virtual assessments to gather nutritional and other information to enable you to create suitable feeding regimens appropriate for that individual patient.
Monitoring progress and making relevant adjustments depending on clinical presentation but also considering practicalities and other factors is key to ensuring a successful feeding care plan and achieving a happy service user!
For all of the caseload we aim to provide a streamlined service that best meets peninsula and local HEF dietetic standards.
Communication between various healthcare professionals both within the community and acute services is essential to provide our service, thus is a key skill required for the role.
Liaising with the contracted feed company via the online registration system to place and monitor feed/equipment orders as well as linking directly with feed company nurses is an important part of the daily tasks.
We work closely with the gastrostomy specialist dietitian and have the opportunity to work towards obtaining competencies with gastrostomy tubes and stoma sites, thus extending our dietetic role.
