Job summary Are you a band 5 dietitian looking to move on to the next step or a band 6 wishing to move into a different speciality?
Are you interested in gaining more experience of working with oncology patients?
If the answer is yes, then this job could be right for you!With our oncology dietetic services continuing to expand we are excited to be in the position to offer a fixed term band 6 post working with a multi-professional team in oncology.
The work will involve working directly with cancer patients from all tumour groups across outpatient and ambulatory care services on the main but may include home visits.
The post holder will see a specialist caseload of cancer patients, a large element of which will be UGI, HPB, head and neck and haematology.Worthing hospital is located 5 minutes walk from the sea and the vibrant town centre.
The South Downs are close by and we have excellent links to London and Brighton.This vacancy is full time , but we may consider a job share dependent on applicants.
Main duties of the job The role will include seeing patients who require complex dietetic input to optimise their nutritional status through oral and enteral feeding routes, as well as managing treatment side effects.
Strong clinical skills in nutrition support and an ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges experienced by patients undergoing treatments for cancer is important.
We are looking for a good team player and an ability to manage a busy caseload.
A high standard of personal organisation and time management are essential.
You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and have some experience of MDT working.
We are a research active Therapy Services with strong links to the Trust Research and Innovation Committee and local HEIs.
We are continuing to develop and support local clinical research activity and will support staff to develop clinical academic careers.

Job description Job responsibilities To work as part of the Dietitians Department in providing a quality dietetic service to in-patients and out-patients.
The post-holder will manage their workload, exact range of responsibilities will be dependent on clinical experience and skills: Manage a caseload of highly complex oncology patients within the chemotherapy unit and outpatient settingParticipate in MDT working, meetings, audit and researchSupport other dietitians working with oncology patients in the inpatient setting; this might include going to wards to facilitate transfer of careLiaise with neighbouring trusts to support transfer of patientsProvide cover for Macmillan and Advanced dietitians during periods of leave As part of the dietetic services, the post-holder will: Participate in supervision of student dietitians on clinical placement.Support supervision of band 5 dietitians and dietetic support workers.Cover clinical workload of other dietitians, during annual leave.Undertake normal activities of the department MDT working, projects, meetings, service developments, audits & research, CPD, developing resources, training other health professionals, lead/participate in national awareness events (Nutrition & Hydration week, Dietitians week), etc Please see Job Description and Person Specification for details.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics Evidence of post registration study or development Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration - dietitian Desirable Relevant other training or qualification (or working towards), Masters, 2nd relevant degree, leadership course Member of BDA or other body conferring professional insurance - full Skills Essential Good communication skills in range formats and settings - written, teaching, involvement of carers, MDT working, patients with communication problems, etc Managing patients with complex needs - high medical complexity, MDT working Ability to work as a team member including working within an MDT Experience in the clinical training of student dietitians or other staff Desirable Paediatric experience Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Essential Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
