Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Special Schools Nurse who is looking to make a difference today!You will support children and young people with complex health needs to access their education by training the school staff to carry out the health needs.
The Special Schools Nursing network provides support to children and young people with complex health needs.The nurses assess and identify any care needs that can be delegated to school staff by ensuring that the skill is risk assessed and school staff are trained, supervised and competent to deliver the care appropriate for the student within designated Special Schools.This is a term-time only role that would suit an enthusiastic Special School Nurse ready to join our fantastic nursing team in Tonbridge, Kent.
As we work as a network although you are based in a school there will be travel to other schools to support the teams across the network.
Main duties of the job As a Special Schools Nurse you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic care linked to packages of prescribed care or identified projects.You will develop integrated care programmes in partnership with senior practitioners and/or commissioners and act as lead senior practitioner to support junior staff to carry out assessment/reassessments of service users and/or pathways with complex needs across the relevant field.In addition, you will supporting and make recommendations to senior managers in order to prioritise and focus efforts to drive forward and achieve business objectives, service improvement strategies and statutory requirements.Additional Working Pattern: 4 days a week term time only About us Rated 'outstanding' by the CQC, we've got a passion for delivering high standards of patient care and excellent services to improve the health of our communities.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential NMC registered paediatric nurse with a minimum of 3 years of acute experience; Nursing degree or diploma and evidence of relevant post graduate development at Level 6; Full driving licence and access to own vehicle Desirable Management or supervisory qualification or experience of study; Evidence of specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice (mentorship) Experience Essential Minimum of 2 years' experience in complex needs or community setting; Experience of teaching clinical skills and presenting information to large groups; Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor) experience Desirable Experience of leading and managing teams; Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (Powerpoint, Excel and RIO) Knowledge Essential Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months Skills and abilities Essential Understanding of training needs in relation to post; Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines; Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including educational settings; Ability to communicate and adapt practice to work with children and young people with complex needs; Excellent communication skills and ability to work with other professionals, KCC staff and families; Ability to triage and complete health needs assessments Attributes Essential Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice; Ability to manage and lead change; Ability to work under pressure; Flexible and adaptable Ability to manage Essential Able to support the implementation of local and national agenda for health under the guidance of the senior Practitioner; Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, considering Trust policies and procedures; Ability to manage own time effectively
