Job Description We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Guildford, United Kingdom.
As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality and kitchen operations.
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistent quality and presentation Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop innovative menu items and seasonal specials Manage and organise your designated station, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to food safety standards Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff to support their professional development Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen Participate in quality control measures, including taste-testing and presentation checks Assist in managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs Step in for the Head Chef in their absence, assuming full responsibility for kitchen operations Qualifications Proven experience as a Sous Chef, with a minimum of 5 years' cooking experience in a professional kitchen setting Culinary degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution Comprehensive knowledge of various cooking techniques and international cuisines Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation practices, and relevant health regulations Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills Superior communication and teamwork abilities Proven leadership skills with experience in training and mentoring junior staff Creativity in menu development and innovative plating techniques Proficiency in kitchen management software and inventory control systems Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required Passion for culinary excellence and commitment to continuous learning in the field Additional Information Site specifics Writing menus for the school and nursery.

Teaching an apprentice Mandatory weekend shifts(netball tournament, summer fair, Christmas fair and open mornings) Setup of late functions.
