Job summary This is an opportunity to join Avery Healthcare as a Sous Chef at their Avonmere Care Home in Downend, Bristol.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef to provide a high-quality culinary service that contributes to the overall well-being of the residents.
Main duties of the job As the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in leading the culinary team, preparing modified diets, supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, and ensuring that all food preparation meets the highest hygiene standards.
You will also be required to demonstrate compassion, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering exceptional care.

Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
Understanding the principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential To be successful in this role, you must hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent) and have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
