Inspire People and the Bank of England are partnering together to source a Lead Architect within the Bank's Technology architecture team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining an enterprise architecture practice that supports the Technology directorate and the wider Bank in achieving its strategic objectives.
This role requires a 50/50 split between management and hands-on architectural responsibilities and as a Lead Architect, this is achieved through the following: Line Management of Architects Responsibility for the line management of a team of Architects Leading team members through personal development and training Leading on the annual Performance Review process for team members Supporting recruitment of the Architecture Team as and when needed Mentor, coaching and advising Architects as required Strategies and Roadmaps Taking a lead role in the development of Technology strategies and roadmaps driving a forward looking perspective in conjunction with your domains' partners and the architecture leadership Responsible for domains within the Enterprise Architecture and owning the development of the supporting strategies and treatment plans in conjunction with the architects and other colleagues working in those domains Responsible for translating business strategic plans and requirements into supporting enterprise-wide technology strategies Responsible for understanding the technology estate, the strategic direction, and developing supporting roadmaps with a focus on re-use, rationalisation, simplification and decommissioning Shaping the architecture Responsible for ensuring that your domain's architecture (Blueprints, Technical Options) is developed and delivered in alignment with Technology Strategy, contributing to strategy implementation through portfolio initiatives Leading and influencing the development of architectural artefacts, including baseline and target architectures, architecture building blocks, technical reference model and design patterns Responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of the architecture repository Responsible for ensuring artefacts are governed and maintained Stakeholder Management Responsible for designing and maintaining a stakeholder map that covers the domains for which you are responsible, ensuring engagement and understanding for all architectural outputs.
Additionally, considering the wider team stakeholder landscape and helping extend engagement further into business areas where required Responsible for providing measures to evidence stakeholder management effectiveness Technology Leadership Responsible for being a technology ambassador, representing architecture and Technology at governance forums, and being an advocate for the solutions, strategies and roadmaps produced by the team Responsible for identifying and driving technology innovation across the organisation Job Requirements Essential Experience in IT architecture, including application of architecture principles to IT solution design Experience in IT leadership and management, development of highly skilled and engaged teams Markets and Banking systems (SWIFT standards, trading systems, front to back-office function, payments) Critical thinking with the ability to develop long term strategies and advocate those strategies with stakeholders as well as conduct research providing summarised results and recommendations Consistent track record of defining, implementing and driving technical change through innovation, architectural evolution, simplification, and capability exploitation.
Excellent communication skills, including articulating solutions for senior stakeholders and communicating designs to governance forums Stakeholder management experience and awareness of stakeholder expectations Good general knowledge of IT and technology solutions Working knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice Ability to adapt and prioritise Ability to lead multiple initiatives in parallel Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions Self-managing, self-motivated Desired Experience working within an architectural framework (e.g.
TOGAF, Zachman) Enterprise Architecture Skills: - technical reference model development, building block design, applications and role design, systems integration, evaluation of architectures etc.
Experience of working in a Large Enterprise or FTSE 100 organisation.
Understanding of cloud based services and their potential contribution to the solutions landscape for different architecture domains.
Salary and Benefits Information This role offers a salary of: Leeds ranging from £70,510 to £81,360 and London from £78,310 to £90,360 plus an additional 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits plus a discretionary performance award based on a current award pool between 10% to 25% per year.
