Our City based client seeks a Solicitor within their Professional Indemnity division.
You will assist with the drafting of Pre-Action Protocol letters of response on cases with an estimated potential loss of under £150,000.
The role will also involve managing a small portfolio of complex Professional Indemnity claims under a number of different delegated authority structures.
Applicants should have extensive experience of dealing with defendant Professional Negligence work and ideally have an excellent knowledge of writing letters of response under the various pre-action protocols (focusing on professional negligence and construction). Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssisting in the creation of templates and wording banks to assist in the efficient creation of letters of responseWorking with senior management to develop the offering and assess areas in which it can growBe involved with the hiring and management of junior staff to work on the day-to-day creation of letters of responseWork with internal and external stakeholders to promote the offeringPreparation of claim reports in relation to large loss, multi-party and contentious claimsTechnical excellence in terms of coverage analysisEstablishing and thereafter updating reserve estimates as cases developReferring policy points to insurers and liaising with underwriters as requiredHandling of correspondence with insureds, brokers, insurers and claimantsPreparation of defences and assisting insured with letters where requiredConsulting the Claims Director and other team members on difficult cases or where sums claimed are largeMeeting service standards, operating within any delegated authority provided by insurerNegotiating the settlement of claims within defined authority limitsAssisting with the training and development of the claims team and acting as a key technical resource/referral point within the departmentAssisting in marketing the department to potential clients.
