This hands-on role involves the operation and maintenance of large-scale solar plants, ground mounted solar PV plants.
You will ensure these plants run safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
This is a field-based role with regular travel between sites and occasional travel for training or site coverage.
Weekend on-call duties are required as part of a rota.
Responsibilities System Maintenance & Repair including Inspect, test, and maintain AC/DC systems, inverters, and communication.
Fault Diagnosis & Resolution to diagnose and repair faults to ensure operational uptime.
Safety & Compliance, making sure the highest health and safety standards.
Conduct planned maintenance and inspections.
Oversee subcontractor work, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and compile detailed reports on completed activities.
Knowledge & Experience Solid understanding of large-scale solar PV technology (MW-scale or commercial ground-mounted systems).
Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, high-voltage switchgear, and communication networks.
Familiarity with central inverters and battery storage technology (training provided).
Skilled in DC and low-voltage (LV) installation, fault finding, testing, and commissioning.
Proficient in drafting and revising Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Previous experience working remotely on solar PV installation, operations, and maintenance.
Skills & Attributes Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong commitment to safe working practices.
Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
Computer literate, particularly in report writing and email communication.
Enthusiastic about personal development and career growth.
Adaptable to changing priorities, with strong problem-solving skills.
Qualifications Full UK driving licence.
Desired: Inspection & Testing qualifications (e.g., C&G 2391 or 2394/5), First Aid certification Health & Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS).
