Our client is a 100% small animal veterinary surgery, who have a loyal client base and are now looking for a Full or Part Time Experienced Vet to join the team.
The practice sees lots of dogs, cats and exotics. Once a week they run a one-hour RSPCA clinic on behalf of the local RSPCA branch. The clinic equipment is extensive and includes modern IDEXX in-house laboratory (catalyst and procyte), digital AGFA CR X-ray, video endoscope and bronchoscope, colour Doppler ultrasound with ECG, tonopen, slit lamp - all of these would allow candidates to work up cases fully in-house. There is a varied caseload that ranges from the standard (e.g. vaccinations, microchipping, neutering, dentals, in-house laboratory, X-ray interpretation pet passports, pregnancy diagnosis with ultrasound, hip and elbow scoring, PAT dog assessments), to more specialist services and treatments, such as chemotherapy, echocardiograms, ECG, video endoscope, bronchoscope for non-invasive investigations and advanced surgeries. The principal vet has a particular interest in small animal surgery and orthopaedics (regularly carrying out TTAs) and holds a PGCertSAS and is happy to pass on his knowledge.
There is a supportive and friendly team of nurses. The client considers CPD an essential part of a veterinary surgeon's role and has an extensive library of books and journals within a quiet spacious office. The clinic is located in beautiful Anglesey just 5 minutes from the beach and a 45 minute drive from the Snowdonia Mountains. You will be the 4th vet to the team and there are four lovely nurses and a practice manager.
This is a full-time permanent Veterinary Surgeon position, though they are able to consider part-time candidates as well. You will be keen to work up cases with good case continuity and support as required and provide excellent client care and have good communication skills. The full-time role would be for 4 full days (9am-6.30pm) plus a share in Saturday rota (currently 1 in 4) and a share in the weekend and evening in-patient rota. The emergency out of hours is undertaken by VetsNow, though the team continue to look after in-patients. The ideal candidate should be keen to get to the bottom of conditions, provide excellent client care and have good communication skills. The successful candidate should consider CPD essential to their role and should be keen to update their knowledge and skills regularly. Salary up to £64k pa dependent on experience + benefits including Private Medical Insurance.
They are looking for a veterinary surgeon who is in good standing with the RCVS and comfortable with routine consults and routine neutering and dental surgery. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, should be able to write clear and concise clinical notes, should be computer literate, committed to collegiality and should have good time management skills. The individual should be proactive in their learning and keen to develop their knowledge and practical and intellectual skills through CPD.
