Job summary THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

Under the leadership of the Lead Manager the post holder will play a key role in both the management of designated specialties and the operational day to day management of all administration processes.
The post holder will support achievement of all Annual Operating Framework targets.
Deputise for Lead Manager as required and manage appropriate medical staffing issues on behalf of the Director within designated specialties.
This is a developmental post and may include rotational placement, duties and development opportunities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job Site Specialty ManagerAn opportunity to join the Surgical Directorate management team has arisen.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated individual to develop their operational management career in a supportive and forward thinking Division.
This fast paced, busy role is essential to ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Department, the delivery of key performance metrics and providing high quality support to the team.
Working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively to solve problems and ensure systems and processes are in place to deliver an effective service for patients.The successful candidate will have a proven ability to build excellent working relationships, be able to calmly and confidently prioritise to manage competing demands and have the necessary skills to identify and mitigate risks as they arise.
They will be an effective communicator with methods to ensure all stakeholders in the Department are kept informed and included in developments, an ability to effectively influence and motivate and have an excellent understanding of the requirements needed to deliver performance standards.This role would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced operational manager to expand their portfolio or for someone looking to develop their leadership experience in a dynamic operational role.
The post will also provide exposure to Divisional working through inclusion in Directorate wide programmes of work.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to degree/diploma level or equivalent experience.
Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent experience Desirable Management or professional qualification Experience Essential Experience of working with multi disciplinary teams and across divisions and departments Experience of developing service plans and capital bids that reflect service needs.
Awareness of external drivers for change.
Experience of budget management Experience of developing services and implementing change to meet performance targets Experience of preparing and presenting information to clinical staff to influence, change and inform decisions Experience of managing teams, undertaking recruitment, managing performance and sickness and discplinary issues Experience of managing admin & clerical staff Desirable Experience of working with local partnerships Experience of leading clinical teams to deliver change Experience of benchmarking services and introducing change as a result Experience of working with surgical teams Experience of delivering CIP targets Experience of participating in consultant job plan reviews Skills Essential Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organisation and external partners Able to initiate/respond positively to change and has the ability to learn from the experience Ability to analyse and interpret complex information Good report writing skills and presentation skills Ability to prioritise workload in an operational environment Working knowledge of microsoft word and excel Demonstrable leadership skills Desirable Sound negotiation and influencing skills Knowledge Essential Comprehensive understanding of performance target as outlined in Annual Quality Framework Knowledge of surgical services and challenges faced by division Desirable Knowledge of information systems Personal Essential Committed to a culture of continuous improvement Ability to create effective working relationships with clinical staff and to build teams Ability to manage work/life balance Self motivated Desirable Ability to communicate in Welsh Evidence of continuing professional development
