An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic experienced nurse to join our clients Oncology and Medical team as Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
The role is based in the 17 – bed oncology and medical ward with an additional 2 bedded specialist treatment area for our Neuroendocrine patients.
There is a mixture of acutely unwell patients, chemotherapy patients and end of life patients.
The successful candidate will be joining a nursing team that provides ongoing care for Oncology & Medical patients within the inpatient setting.
You will be working with the wider multidisciplinary team in supporting patients throughout their cancer journey & medical needs.
The role will play a vital role in delivering on expert patient care.
The successful applicant will have at least 2 years' experience in the oncology setting, including a good knowledge of caring for patients receiving chemotherapy and supportive therapies, expert cannulation and venepuncture skills, proven teaching, supervision and staff support skills, and the ability to communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will deliver a clinical environment that ensures our patients & visitors receive the highest standards of care; an environment that is conducive to learning, supporting and participating in the supervision/teaching of more junior or new staff, adhering to a level of service that conforms to our vision, aspiration and values at all times.
The Sister/Charge Nurse will provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, without supervision, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
You will contribute to the development of services and quality improvement initiatives within a collaborative framework to enhance patient experience.
In addition, you will have responsibility of a team to support with development and performance appraisal and deputise for Ward Manager.
Skills and Experience NMC Registered NursePost registration qualification in Cancer/ Chemotherapy NursingRecognised teaching, assessing, mentoring qualificationExtensive experience within Cancer specialtyEvidence of continuing professional developmentEvidence of management experience / trainingSkilled in Phlebotomy / Cannulation / Care of CVADs/ IV administrationIf you are interested in this role, please contact Martine Cohen.
