Due to the growth of our project portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Setting Out Engineer with a solid civil engineering background to join us on a 16-week contract in Bristol, starting 22nd November.
Key Responsibilities: As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring precise positioning and alignment of structures on site.
You will work closely with the project team to ensure all activities are carried out to the highest standards, following technical specifications.
Your main duties will include: Setting out works on site (e.g., roads, drainage, foundations, structures).
Ensuring accuracy in measurements, calculations, and alignment according to engineering drawings.
Interpreting technical drawings to determine correct positioning on site.
Conducting surveys and levelling using setting-out equipment such as total stations, GPS, and theodolites.
Collaborating with project managers, surveyors, and other site teams to deliver projects on schedule and to budget.
Documenting and managing the setting-out process, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
Identifying and resolving any issues that may arise during the setting-out process.
Coordinating materials and resources effectively for site operations.
Keeping up-to-date with industry codes of practice, safety regulations, and best practices.
Skills & Qualifications: To be considered for this role, you will need: A Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
Proven experience in setting out, with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles.
Proficiency with setting-out equipment, including total stations, GPS, and levelling instruments.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Good communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders on site.
Desirable: Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD software.
CSCS card or other relevant health and safety certifications
