Along with our staff networks and training opportunities, we work hard to embed a just and compassionate culture here at NELFT.Find out more about NELFT careers and what makes our Trust a great place to work, in this video Job overview We are looking for a qualified Clinician with a professional registration ( Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist) who has at least two years' experience in working directly with children or adults with a learning disability to come and work in a senior role within our Essex wide SET CAMHS Learning Disability Team, providing assessment and intervention to address the mental health needs of children and young people with a Severe to Profound learning Disability.
Main duties of the job The team provides mental health services to children and young people with severe to profound learning disabilities who additionally may also have related complex developmental disorders often including an additional Autistic Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.
The team is based in Chelmsford and offers a specialist community based Mental Health service across Essex to children/ young people and their parents and professionals who care and support them at home and in all environments.The service provides the latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to children/ young people with severe to profound learning disabilities and their families experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties, taking into account the individual circumstances of each individual, child and their system.
Working for our organisation Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.
As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.Probationary PeriodThis post will be subject to a probationary period.

Person specification Qualification Essential criteria Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice ( psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist) or graduate training ( nursing, social work, occupational therapy)To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body ( HCPC, NMC) Experience Essential criteria Experience of working with children/young people/adults with a learning Disability requiring skilled and complex interventions.Experience of providing mental health and other interventions to children, young people, and adults with a learning disability and co-morbid neurodevelopmental disorders Desirable criteria Experience of specialist assessment carried out autonomously in order to determine the most appropriate treatment plan from a range of options for the child/young person.
Skills Essential criteria Demonstrate skills in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues.
