Job Title: Service Engineer - Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems Location: Field-based, UK-wide (West Midlands to North West Coverage) Department: Operations Manager: Service Operations Manager via Senior Service Coordinator Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday Start Date: ASAP Compensation: £34,000 - £42,000 per annum (plus overtime) Benefits: Company vehicle, company phone, healthcare cash plan, bonus scheme, enhanced parental leave, increasing holiday entitlement through loyalty, and relevant training opportunities.
Role Overview: We are a leader in the standby power, energy efficiency, and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) markets, with over four decades of industry expertise.
We provide, maintain, and hire critical power systems including generators, UPS systems, and switchgear.
With a solid family management structure, the company offers stable long-term employment within a team of approximately 100 staff.
As an experienced UPS Service Engineer, you will be performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement of key components (capacitors, fans, batteries) across a variety of UPS systems ranging from 5kVA to 1MVA.
Key Responsibilities: Servicing & Repairs: Carry out scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems.
On-Call Responsibilities: Act as the first responder to site breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota.
Flexible Support: Occasionally assist the Generator Service Team with related duties.
UK Travel: While primarily assigned to your region, you will cover nationwide travel as needed.
Essential Qualifications and Skills: Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a UPS Service Engineer with practical exposure to various major UPS brands.
Technical Proficiency: Strong electrical engineering knowledge and proficiency with laptop-based UPS diagnostic and control software.
IT Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Self-Motivation & Reliability: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Qualifications: Gas Safe qualification.
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
IEE 18th Edition certification.
CSCS card.
Ownership of basic electrical and mechanical tools.
Key Competencies: Positive attitude and adaptability.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage high mileage driving and occasional overnight stays.
High standards of personal presentation and professionalism.
