Swindon Borough Council is forging a future where connectivity powers progress. We're seeking six visionary, creative and passionate directors to join our leadership team, turn the dial on performance and drive our improvement plans forward.
We're integrating services, connecting our workforce with a sense of mission, fostering improved partnerships and harnessing AI and data to inform our preventative approach.
This is your chance to ignite transformation, deliver service excellence and build high performing teams whose purpose is to change lives, improve places and communities and build a fairer, better, greener Swindon.
With our ambitious "One Council" approach, we're breaking down silos and working collaboratively to deliver our bold vision for Swindon's future. About the role: We are proud that our waste management, environment, roads, highways and housing repairs are in-house and have a dedicated team working towards ensuring high standards for all our residents. As our new Service Director Operations, you will have the opportunity to lead these crucial services, ensuring better standards of delivery. You will also have the opportunity to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across the Operations directorate.

Part of our 'One Swindon' transformation programme is working in an agile, collaborative way, breaking down siloes. Within this role, you'll be responsible for supporting this transformation within your services.
It is critical that our Home Repairs team meet the requirements of the Regulator as there are major issues with our decent home standards. We are passionate about improving the standards for our residents and you will lead from the front in transforming the service area, ensuring the very best outcomes for our tenants.
Who we're looking for:
We're looking for someone who can bring a commercial mindset to our operations service. It is crucial that our Directors support our 'One Swindon' vision, and you will have the chance to breathe energy into the vision, supporting the team in taking it on. Key to success is bringing lots of passion and energy to the Directorate, as well as supporting workforce development to work in a more agile way.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive council that places its residents at the heart of everything it does. By joining us, you'll have the chance to lead meaningful, long-term change and play a critical role in shaping the future of Swindon's communities.
