Service Director Location: Home-based with frequent travel across the UK The Service Director will report directly to the UK Managing Director and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the UK maintenance operations.
This role will focus on driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and ensuring top-tier service performance across a large, geographically dispersed team.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in managing service operations, particularly in technology-driven optimisation, workforce productivity, and fleet management.
With full P&L responsibility, the Service Director will be accountable for meeting financial targets including revenue, orders, and margin.
The role will involve working closely with financial partners to implement strategic initiatives aimed at boosting productivity, enhancing service delivery, and fostering a lean, high-performance operating environment.
What you will be doing: Leadership & Strategy A key member of the UK leadership team, managing a team of over 500 and driving a strategy aligned with long-term goals to foster operational excellence and a high-performance, lean culture.
Financial Management Oversee all aspects of P&L management, ensuring financial targets for orders, revenue, and margins are achieved.
Optimise resources through effective budget management and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Operational Excellence Deliver safe, reliable maintenance services across the UK, fostering strong customer relationships and maintaining a skilled workforce trained in safety and technological advancements.
Drive cost efficiency through lean practices, while managing fleet and depot performance to ensure operational consistency.
Oversee contracts with public sector authorities and developers, ensuring compliance and creating long-term customer relationships and new business opportunities.
Balance workforce requirements, maximise productivity, and foster team engagement through planning, coaching, and development within a matrix organisation.
Utilise IoT, AI diagnostics, and real-time data to drive automation, scheduling, work orders, and fleet management, continuously enhancing service delivery and performance.
Health & Safety Enforce health and safety standards, regularly reviewing protocols to reduce risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Who you are: An experienced leader in large-scale service or maintenance operations, with a strong track record of managing dispersed teams, service fleets, and full P&L responsibilities for both public and private sector clients.
Adept at driving operational efficiency through the use of technology, lean methodologies, and strategic financial planning, consistently meeting budget and performance goals.
A skilled communicator with the ability to coach high-performance teams, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively within a matrix organisation.
Analytical, decisive, and organised, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a timely manner.
Flexible and willing to travel as required.
