Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated midwife to lead our co-located Serenity Birthing Centre and be an advocate for midwifery care within the core and community settings.
The post holder will be passionate about maternity care and will be required to work closely with the Consultant midwife and community teams to support women and birthing people with their birth preferences.
Main Duties of the Job The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management, clinical leadership and standards of the midwifery services, including all staff groups, students and visitors within the Birthing Unit.
The Birthing Unit is a co-located unit with direct access to Princess Alexandra Hospital's Labour Ward.
The post holder will be expected to lead their team, team build, organise others in their actions and set priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility.
This includes performance management of both the activity and members of the Birthing Unit team.
As a member of the senior Management team, the post holder will act as bleep holder for the maternity unit as required and take part in the Maternity Manager on-call rota.
The Birthing Unit Manager will be faced with many competing demands for attention and will be expected to exercise excellent judgement in dealing with both clinical and interpersonal challenges.
