Role Overview: A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead the hearing support team in Oldham.
Leading the supportive and welcoming hearing impairment team, a part of the council's specialist education services, you will provide leadership and management related to addressing the education needs of children and young people who are hearing impaired.
Working with partners, including health colleagues, parents/carers and schools/settings will be a key part of the role.
This will be to ensure the team delivers the best support possible for children and young people.
Applications are welcomed from experienced professionals with the Teacher of the Deaf Qualification.
Key Responsibilities: To leader and manage the HI Specialist Teaching Service, whilst having responsibility for a reduced caseload.
To ensure the work undertaken by the Specialist Teaching Service supports the best outcomes for children and young people with HI needs.
To lead the service through effective supervision and identification of priorities to undertake direct work with children, young people, their families, schools/settings and health partners.
To ensure effective transitions between settings for all children and young people with HI needs.
To promote support for HI through development of a network of provision across the borough.
Key Requirements: To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum: Teacher of the Deaf qualification.
Excellent leadership abilities and experience of applying these successfully.
Knowledge and experience of implementing inclusive provision in settings/schools for children with SEND.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Up to date knowledge of legislation and guidance related to the SEND Code of Practice and its practical implications.
