Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Simulation & Training) Salary: up to £50,000 per annum dependent upon experience Location: Portsmouth We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Systems Engineer (Simulation & Training).
The role will be based in Portsmouth but offers the opportunity for hybrid working (ideally 3 days per week on site) and flexible working hours.

Joining the Modelling & Simulation Team, you will be part of the Simulation & Training Group.
This team delivers high fidelity simulations of the world, platforms, weapons and sensors that enable re-creation of complex Naval formations supporting Under Water Battlespace and Future Air Dominance.
This role will give wide exposure to a variety of different functions and areas of the business and will provide plenty of opportunities for training and progression with a focus on technical ability and professionalisation throughout your career.
Main Responsibilities: Undertake Training Systems equipment design, network design and software design (noting Training Systems are primarily software intensive systems targeted to integrated Commercial off the shelf-COTS platforms), to include overall performance prediction and design of installations, to meet customer requirements within the budget available Apply a breadth of knowledge, skills and experience of Systems Engineering and company approaches, techniques and governance to design and develop solutions and resolve engineering issues and problems for Training Systems products Apply the Systems Engineering principles of ISO 15288 to the design and build of systems through the entire engineering lifecycle Discern and decompose stakeholder requirements to system and sub-system level and manage these in an approved toolset such as IBM DOORS Next Undertake system design decomposition and architectural modelling to subsystem level, including associated external and internal interface definition, and manage architectural models in an approved toolset such as CATIA Magic (Cameo) Produce & maintain system design documentation to reflect deployed Training Systems Produce procurement specifications in liaison with Training Systems and sub-contractor stakeholders, and ensure compliance of associated delivered products & services Define and undertake system integration, test planning and execution Define acceptance strategies, in liaison with the System Design Authority, in order to verify requirement compliance at specific levels of system design, supporting production of customer acceptance evidence Undertake technical reviews, verification and approval of engineering technical design, documentation and service delivery support practices, ensuring compliance with business, legislative and customer requirements Support identification and recording of ITAR and EAR item status Benefits: Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years' service/ 27 days after 10 years' service Shared Incentive Plan Employee Assistance Programme Cycle to Work Scheme Life Assurance (you and your spouse/ partner)- 6 x salary Ill Health Income Protection/ Private Medical Insurance- 50% of salary About You: Understands engineering principles and approaches underpinning design and development activities and be capable of systems thinking, applying holistic approaches to complex problems Demonstrates understanding, knowledge and experience of Systems Engineering including knowledge of appropriate Systems Engineering standards (e.g.
ISO 15288) Strong problem solving skills, both in terms of creative (product design and development) and analytical areas (e.g.
performance assessment) Experience of system integration, test and acceptance Experience of requirements management (e.g.
IBM DOORS Next) and application of configuration management Experience of working with large scale complex system designs Experience of multiple phases of an engineering lifecycle and good knowledge of lifecycle models (e.g.
Waterfall, Agile) and associated tools (e.g.
