Job overviewThe Radiology department at King's College Hospital NHS Trust enjoys the reputation of being a world leader in innovative radiological interventions. The nursing team is looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Sister to join the Department of Interventional Radiology but mainly working within the Nuclear Medicine suite at Kings College Hospital. The successful candidate will make an important contribution to the care and management of both inpatients and outpatients requiring diagnostic or interventional procedures in an acute Trust setting.
The individual will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Nuclear Medicine and Radiology Matron to promote continued development of the service to deliver a high standard of care and positive patient experience whilst being responsive to the needs of other clinical directorates within KCH.
As a Junior Sister you will be expected to deliver high standard of care to your patients, be a role model and team leader to our junior staff. The Junior Sister must be proficient in venepuncture and Cannulation, and able to administer intravenous drugs. You will be a source of expert information, support and clinical expertise to patients undergoing diagnostic tests (including cardiac stress testing) and admissions for Thyroid Cancer and NET radionuclide therapies.
Main duties of the jobWe are also looking for an innovative, dynamic individual who will provide training and educational support to junior staff and students and play a key role in maintaining learning environment within the nuclear medicine department.
The applicant must be a registered nurse, some experience in nuclear medicine or interventional Radiology at Band 5 is an advantage but candidates demonstrating significant clinical experience in a variety of clinical areas that hold a post registration course relevant to this field and a mentorship/practice assessor qualification is essential. The ideal candidate must demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show keen interest in the future development of the profession within this specialist area of medicine.
