Job summary Following a retendering process, the children'sservice is due to be transferred to the new provider on the 1st of April 2025.Given this post sits within the transferring service, in line with thelegislative requirements, the successful candidate will be part of the TUPEtransfer along with other colleagues.We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapists, with a special interest in working with preschool children aged 0-5 years and their families.
You will primarily work as a member of the team covering North West Surrey in either Runnymede or Woking locality.Alongside the 0-5 Clinical work this post offers development opportunities.Proposed interview date: 6 January 2025 - Interview to take place at The White House, Crouch Oak Lane, Addlestone,KT15 2ANUKVisa and Immigration Sponsorship: Please note that we do not offer UKVIsponsorship for these posts, and so all applicants require a current right towork in the UK.
Main duties of the job This is a challenging, varied and rewarding role.
Day to day you will be conducting assessments, writing reports and running therapy sessions (groups / individual) for preschool children; including children with language delay, social communication & interaction differences, down syndrome, speech difficulties, complex needs.
You will predominantly work in one locality in North West Surrey.This post has opportunities for training and specialist supervision to develop you skills working with children (0-5) with dysphagia or with children who stammer (aged 5-19).As part of your role you may also be involved inDelivering training to parents, nursery school staff and other professionals.
Supporting and line managing less experienced SLTs and/or SLTA As a service we firmly believe that the best services for the children we serve come out of effectively training and supporting our clinicians.You will be supported by the following:Regular group supervision, managerial supervision and a well-established appraisal system Opportunities to develop leadership skills and to supervise less experienced members of staff Being involved in local and service wide projects with your colleague Opportunities to work alongside others A 2 week induction period where you will have the opportunity to observe and shadow your team, including access to a buddy.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Speech & Language Therapy Health care Professions Council registration Desirable Registered Member of professional body Skills Essential Ability to work autonomously.
Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance in relation to current best practice and develop skills accordingly.
Planning and decision making skills and problem solving.
Computer and internet literate.
Other skills Essential Car owner/driver Able to work as a team member Flexible worker Punctual and reliable Able to deal with difficulties involving colleagues / clients Creative Experience Essential Knowledge of legislation and government polices related to the specialty.
Broad knowledge of current best practice.
Previous therapy experience in the relevant clinical areas related to the post.
Documented evidence of CPD Competent to use standardised assessments.
Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to deliver training.
Desirable Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses relating to the post.
Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks.
Training relating to the line management and supervision of assistants and other therapists.
Experience of training parents, other therapists and other professionals.
