A part-time position has arisen for a Senior Specialised Dental Nurse to work within the Oral Maxillofacial/Orthodontic/Restorative Department.
As a Qualified Senior Specialised Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for supporting the service in ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.
The post holder is required to hold a recognised Dental Nursing qualification, be GDC registered, and have post qualifications in Dental Radiography, and Care and Recovery of the Conscious Sedated patient.
You must be able to prepare, organise, and maintain the highest standards of care in the clinical environment for Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, and Restorative dentistry. You should be flexible with a professional manner and possess excellent communication skills. You will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that the needs of the patients are placed at the centre of care delivery. The post is situated at Royal Stoke but you would be expected to cross cover at County Hospital; some evening and weekend work may be required.
Main duties of the job We are seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Specialised Dental Nurse to work predominantly within the Oral Maxillofacial, Orthodontic & Restorative Department. The applicant must hold:
The British National Examining Board for Dental Surgery Assistants' certificate / NEBDN / NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Dental Nursing, Certificate in Dental Radiography. And either one or both of the below:
Care and Recovery of the Conscious Sedated patient, NEBDN. Certificate in Oral Health Education, NEBDN. Band: Band 5
This is a Band 4 post until such time as the post holder gains 2 years' experience within the department in order for progression to Band 5 to occur.
This is a multidisciplinary department which requires a Senior Specialised Dental Nurse to work within the three specialities: Oral Maxillofacial, Orthodontic, and Restorative, providing nurse-led clinics. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be reliable, highly motivated, use their own initiative, and work well within a team. They will need to have a supportive, caring attitude and be committed to providing the highest level of care to our patients.

Person specification Qualifications Care and recovery of the conscious sedated patient. NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing. Registered with the General Dental Council. Orthodontic Nursing Certificate. Level 1 (Core) Training in Dental CBCT Certificate. Oral Health Education Certificate. Experience Experience and relevant knowledge in specific specialist areas of Maxillofacial, Orthodontics, and Restorative. Knowledge of confidentiality/Data Protection Act. Ability to prioritise appropriately and work with minimal supervision. High standard of chair-side nursing. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Basic computer literacy, including confidence using a PC and handheld devices to record patient information. Competent domestic skills, including cleaning and organisation. Well motivated. Commitment to working with the multidisciplinary team. Prepared to work across the departments/sites. Evidence of continual professional development. Flexible with working hours. Understanding of Hospital Policies and Procedures. Hospital computer system. Planning and organisational skills.
