Senior Sister/Charge Nurse Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) - Band 7
At The Royal London Hospital, we are passionate about getting it right for our patients and their families.
To achieve this, we are looking to appoint an outstanding individual to the post of Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within the Acute Admissions Unit (AAU).
Working together as a team of 3 Band 7 Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses, managing a large team of Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, we will support you to develop your role as a leader within the exciting field of acute admissions.
We admit patients directly from A&E to our 52-bedded Acute Admissions Unit and aim to provide an exceptional standard of care whilst maintaining the flow of patients throughout the hospital.
You will work both clinical and managerial shifts, with an added focus on the support and development of the AAU nursing team and you will provide senior cover for the AAU out of hours.
You will work closely with our dedicated team of 12 acute medical consultants as well as teams from all other medical specialties.
We are able to provide level 1A care for more acutely unwell patients and have 8 beds with cardiac monitors.

Person Specification Qualifications Registered Adult Nurse Teaching/Mentorship qualification e.g.
ENB 998 or equivalent Advanced Life Support provider Degree level or working towards in a relevant subject Experience Minimum of 3 years' experience, at least 1 at band 6 within an acute care setting. Current experience of management in an acute ward at Band 6. Current experience of appraising staff. Evidence of teaching and developing staff both formally and informally. Evidence of leadership development. Experience of working within acute medicine. Knowledge Adaptable and flexible Demonstrates initiative and innovative practice Ability to facilitate change management Ability to be reflective, accept criticism and act constructively Compiling comprehensive duty rota for nursing and ancillary staff Knowledge and understanding of current issues in general nursing, acute nursing and the NHS. Thorough understanding and knowledge of key indicators of excellent quality care. Skills Current knowledge of the management of acute medical conditions.
