Job summary JOB SUMMARYThis is a key role within the Trust with 24-hour responsibility for the management of the ward.
The post holder will be responsible for leading, encouraging and directing innovation to promote evidence based nursing practice within the ward.
Main duties of the job JOB PURPOSE The post holder will deliver patient care on a daily basis.
They should be expert in all areas of nursing care from patient's admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development.
They have overall responsibility for day-to-day management of their clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records.
They will manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care, which is of a high standard.
They will manage unit staff including appraisal, rota's, recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners.
They will provide specialist advice to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.
They will lead the ward through the achieving excellence program and be a pivotal role model within their speciality upholding the trusts values and behaviours at all times.

A video about the Royal Surrey - Job description Job responsibilities Band 7 ward manager for community inpatients Milford Hospital An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of B7 Ward Manager for community inpatients at Milford Hospital.
Milford Hospital is a 30 bedded sub-acute frailty inpatient hospital that specializes in the care of older people.
Milford Hospital sits within the division of adult community health services.
As the post holder you will have a passion for patients living with frailty and a drive to enhance the patient experience.
Supported by the Matron, you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team taking responsibility for the delivery of safe, patient centered care.
As the post holder you will have previous experience as a band 7 Ward Manager and will be confident to lead a team, working autonomously and under pressure.
As the post holder you will lead and manage a team of Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, you will be responsible for the off duty, PDRs and annual leave as well as the ward budget.
You will take responsibility for the day to day running of the inpatient hospital and will lead and promote clinical effectiveness and governance, building links between the community hospitals and the Royal Surrey Hospital.
As the post holder you will have sound clinical skills and the knowledge to drive and champion Clinical Governance.
You will have extensive experience of discharging patients and you will be able to support the Trust during times of operational pressures.
