Job summary Join our team as a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within the Acute Cardiac Unit for a period of 9 months for maternity cover at the James Paget University Hospital Foundation Trust where you will oversee the daily operations of the nursing team, ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered to patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Main duties of the job Working in collaboration with the Matron, you will support leadership and provide guidance and mentorship to the nursing team as well as ensuring compliance with the relevant quality and safety standards; your leadership and communication skills will be essential in fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that empowers the nursing team to achieve their full potential.

Main duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure safe and effective practice Adhere to NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example,safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicines.

Ensure supervision and mentorship is embedded for pre and post registrationstudents, registered nurses and health care support workers, as the ward/department environment Ensure appropriate delegation to Registered nurses and health care supportworkers and monitoring of outcomes for effective care/service delivery.
Challenge appropriately and confidently where standards of care fall below thatwhich the Department Sister/Charge Nurse would expect.
Contribute to budget management within the ward/department, to ensure servicesare managed in accordance with yearly financial instructions.
Participate in multi-professional procurement processes to ensure appropriateselection of products which meet relevant quality and safety standards.
To participate and embed fundamental standards of care throughout thedepartment.Effective use of resources Deliver a safe and effective service within allocated resources, ensuring theresources are used to maximum effect.
Monitor budgetary performance, develop and implement action plans, organise thenecessary resources and monitor outcomes.
