Main duties of the job The successful post holder will be expected to support therapy intervention given to patients, working as part of integrated therapy specialty teams, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants on a rotational basis delivering 7 day services.
Rotations currently may include- Older PersonsAcute FrailtyCardiorespiratoryPaediatrics and Women's HealthSurgical/Critical CareNeuro/MacmillanOrthopaedics (Trauma and Elective)Front Door, including Emergency DepartmentAcute Frailty UnitRotations to Sheppey Frailty Unit (ME123LT) may also be possible As a Senior Rotational Therapy Assistant you will ensure that patients receive high quality therapy care.The Senior Rotational Therapy Assistant will work in partnership with members of the MDT both internally and external to the organisation.The role may involve weekend working and may involve extended hours - 8am-8pm.Our values are Bold, Every Person Counts, Sharing and Open and Together.

Job description Job responsibilities Assist the therapist or therapy assistant practitioners in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of therapy techniques on access visits, stair assessments.To undertake patient treatments as delegated by the therapist, following a treatment plan, and feedback reactions and progress to the therapistTreat patients individually or in a group with direct / indirect supervision in a variety of settings ward, gym, clinic.To undertake skilled support work supervising active exercise, therapeutic handling, functional activities, passive exercise, initial interviews.To assist the therapist with the moving and handling of complex, high risk patients in preparation for /during treatment sessions according to Patient Risk assessment.Instruct patients and carers, providing direction and guidance on the treatment programme and progression and guidance in health promotionEncourage patients and their carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.
This requires empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal skills.
Use effective communication tools, verbal and non-verbal to communicate treatment programmes to patients who may have barriers to understanding or communicating, blind, deaf, dysphasic, or who do not have English as a first language.Make accurate records of patient contacts undertaken and keep monthly statistics as required in line with Trust, CSP and service standards.To document in MDT records all treatment undertaken Person Specification Qualifications Essential Good general education (to GCSE or equivalent) Theoretical and Practical Training to QCF III level or equivalent of: Mobility assessment and progression, stair assessments, Active and Passive Exercise, Risk Assessment, Safe Therapeutic Moving and Handling, Health and Safety at Work, Common neurological and musculoskeletal conditions Knowledge Essential Understanding of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Understanding of working with patients in a therapeutic role Experience Essential Experience as a Therapy Assistant in an acute or intermediate care setting Experience across the range of medical and surgical specialities relevant to the acute in-patient setting Experience of documenting and evidencing learning Skills Essential Able to present information in a clear, logical manner in both written and oral format Basic Keyboard skills Ability to communicate with patients with impaired communication abilities and with a wide range of health and social care staff Values Based Question Essential Give an example of a time where you have demonstrated a 'can do' attitude (including the situation you were in) and the outcome.
